The Latino Initiative
for
Wayne-Sampson-Duplin Counties
A program of UNC's
Center for
International Understanding, the Latino Initiative helps policy
makers and community leaders gain capacity to guide their
communities through dramatic demographic changes.
With assistance from Mt. Olive
Pickle Company, Inc., a team of 28 public policy and business
leaders from Wayne, Sampson and Duplin counties participated in
a Latino Initiative program in 2005. The team spent two days of
orientation and a week in Mexico
learning firsthand the cultural, political, social and economic
pressures that lead many Mexicans to come to North Carolina.
On this page, you'll find
