Pickle Ham Supper Casserole

INGREDIENTS:
2 pounds potatoes, cooked, peeled and cut in thick slices (about 4 cups)2 cups diced cooked ham
3 tablespoons butter or margarine
2 tablespoons flour
1-3/4 cups milk
1 cup grated or diced American cheese (1/4 pound)
1/2 cup chopped Mt. Olive Sweet Gherkins
Dash each: pepper and ground thyme
