Mt. Olive Pickle supports the work of nonprofit and civic organizations primarily in our local community of Mount Olive and the broader region of Eastern North Carolina.

Our company does not accommodate donation requests benefitting individuals or family reunions.

Quick answers

Mt. Olive’s products contain none of these major allergens: milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, fish, shellfish, wheat, soybeans, and sesame.
Mt. Olive’s items are gluten free.
Garlic and onion are declared in the ingredient statement for a number of our items, but for many others garlic and onion are included under natural flavors.
Most products with a kosher dill flavor will have garlic extractives included in the natural flavors.
Anyone with significant garlic or onion sensitivities should refrain from consuming our products.

Tours or visiting Mt. Olive Pickle

Mt. Olive does not offer public tours of its facilities. However, you can visit the Mt. Olive Pickle Parlor in Downtown Mount Olive weekdays 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The address is 109 N. Center Street, Mount Olive, NC.

Barrels

Mt. Olive's 55-gallon barrels are not available for sale to the general public.

Best By date and production code

The Best By date is stamped on the shoulder of the jar, on the glass itself, near where it curves into the lid. The production code is just above it.

Pickle Parlor / company store

The Mt. Olive Pickle Parlor is located at 109 N. Center Street, Mount Olive, NC and is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The store offers visitors an overview of Mt. Olive Pickle history, a tour video that runs throughout the day, and daily pickle sampling, plus pickles and pickle-themed merchandise.

Storage and refrigeration

We recommend that you refrigerate our products after opening to enhance flavor and freshness.

Power outage

Pickles and pickled peppers won't spoil or otherwise pose a health threat even if left unrefrigerated for a period of time. If the juice should turn cloudy or milky, the pickles are fermenting. At that point the flavor and texture will be off, so discard.

Did someone take a bite out of my pickle?

If you open a jar of pickles and it appears that someone has taken a "bite" out of one, don't worry. Your pickle is damaged, not bitten. Our machines can sometimes damage pickles in a way that looks just like they've been bitten, tooth marks and all.

Button caps and tamper-evident bands

Most Mt. Olive products feature safety button caps. This means you should encounter reasonable resistance when turning the lid and hear an audible "pop" when you first open your jar. The button caps are marked with the words "Do not purchase if safety button is up."

Some of our products do not use button caps. These include our spear and sandwich stuffer items, and our pepper items. Some, but not all, spear and stuffer items have a tamper-evident band - a clear plastic ring around the jar top.

All of our spear, sandwich stuffer and pepper items are vacuum-sealed and should be reasonably difficult to open for the first time. You should also hear either a "pop" or a "whoosh" of air when you first open the jar.
