Sausage and Pepper Platter

Ingredients

6-8 Bratwurst or Italian Sausages, uncooked
1 large red onion, thinly sliced
⅓ cup Majestic Picklery Deli Style Bread & Butter Mild Banana Pepper Rings, drained
⅓  cup Majestic Picklery Deli Style Bread & Butter Jalapeno Slices, drained
8 oz light beer (or chicken broth or water)
Sausage Buns (for serving)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium high heat, add 1-2 Tbsp oil and heat until simmering.
  2. Add sausages and sear on all sides until nicely browned, 3-4 minutes per side. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Add onion slices and saute onion until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  4. Turn heat to medium low, add banana peppers, jalapenos and beer (or broth) and bring to simmer.
  5. Return the sausages to the skillet.
  6. Simmer until sausages are fully cooked, about 20 minutes.
  7. Add additional liquid if the pan becomes too dry, or remove sausages and increase heat to thicken the sauce at the end if you like.
  8. Toast buns in the oven and serve sausages on buns topped with onions and peppers and some of the pan sauce.
