2007 Pickle Drop draws record
crowd, food for others 1/4/08
Time Square it isn't, but the Corner of Cucumber & Vine is the place to
be on New Year's Eve.
Where else can you watch a three-foot, lighted pickle drop into a
perfectly preserved redwood pickle tank at the stroke of 7 o'clock
midnight?
For those of you who wonder about the
time, we drop the pickle down our flagpole at precisely 7 p.m. At that
moment it's midnight in Greenwich, England, where the world's time is
kept. That way, we can officially welcome in the new year, Mr. Crisp can
get away in time for his late New Year's date, and the rest of us, well,
can be in bed before midnight.
The festivities start at 6 p.m. Join us for free
refreshments and live music as the marquee counts down the last hour of
2008. And don't forget to bring canned food items for the
Food Bank of Central & Eastern
North Carolina for a chance to win door prizes.
But get here early - the whole thing is
over at 7:05.
