Mt. Olive Pickles Announces $10,000 Road Mile World Record Bonus at 2024 MeckMile presented by Albemarle

(CHARLOTTE, N.C.) – Mt. Olive Pickles announced today an exciting sponsorship of the 2024 Meck Mile presented by Albemarle that includes a $10,000 bonus for a male and female runner that breaks the Road Mile World Record. The inaugural event will be held in Charlotte, NC on Saturday, May 25th, with a full day of activities that ranges from kids races to pro races of 20 male and 20 female runners to finish the night.

“We are thrilled to partner with the Meck Mile to help create a one-of-a-kind event that celebrates runners, walkers and everyone in between. We can’t wait to see how fast the Pro Heats can run this course and hopefully someone will earn an additional $10,000 bonus by breaking the road mile world record!” said Mt. Olive Pickles Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing Greg Smith.

The current men’s Road Mile World Record is held by Hobbs Kessler (USA) in the time of 3:56.13 and Diribe Welteji (ETH) holds the female record with a time of 4:20.98. Both records were set in 2023 at the World Athletics Road Running Championships in Riga, Latvia.

In addition to the $10,000 bonus available for one male and one female runner there is a purse of $20,000 that will be split equally between male and female participants with the prize money being distributed among the top six finishers in each pro division.

“Having a North Carolina company like Mt. Olive as a partner of the Meck Mile presented by Albemarle is very exciting!  Their products, particularly Pickle Juicers, will enhance the race day experience for runners and fans, and the Road Mile World Record bonus will certainly have people pushing for their fastest times,” said Will Lawson, Director of Sponsorship Sales at the Charlotte Sports Foundation.
