Classic Chili is a hearty, flavorful dish that combines lean ground beef, kidney beans, and a robust blend of spices, all simmered to perfection. This comforting chili features diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, and beef broth, creating a rich base that's enhanced with chili powder, cumin, and garlic powder. Topped with sour cream, shredded cheese, green onions, and the zesty kick of Mt. Olive Jalapeño Slices, it's a satisfying meal that's perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
1 Tbsp olive oil
1 yellow onion, diced
1 lb. lean ground beef
2 ½ Tbsp chili powder
2 Tbsp ground cumin
2 Tbsp tomato paste
1 Tbsp garlic powder
1 ½ tsp salt
1 tsp black pepper
1 ½ cups beef broth
1 -15 oz. can diced tomatoes
1 -16 oz. red kidney beans
1 -8 oz. can tomato sauce
1 cup sour cream
1 cup shredded cheese
Mt. Olive Jalapeno Slices
1/2 cup chopped green onions
Instructions
- In a large soup pot, add the olive and set over medium high heat. Let it get hot then add the onions and cook for 5 minutes stirring occasionally.
- Add the ground beef to the pot and break it apart. Cook for 6-7 minutes until the beef has browned, stirring occasionally. Add in the spices and tomato paste stirring well until combined.
- Add in the broth, diced tomatoes, drained beans, and tomato sauce. Stir well.
- Bring the liquid to a low boil then reduce to a simmer, uncovered for 20-25 minutes stirring occasionally.
- Remove from the heat and let it rest before serving. Top with plenty of Mt. Olive Jalapeno Slices, plus sour cream, green onions and shredded cheese.
