Sir Purr and the TopCats Bring Smiles and Pickles to Comfort Zone Camp

Sir Purr mascot with children at Comfort Zone Camp, spreading smiles and joy.
Campers at Comfort Zone Camp in Lake Wylie, South Carolina, received a special surprise when Carolina Panthers mascot Sir Purr rolled into camp in his Cat Cruiser, and he brought some friends along for the fun! Members of the TopCats joined Sir Purr for a memorable visit filled with football, friendship and plenty of pickles.
Comfort Zone Camp is a nonprofit bereavement camp dedicated to helping children who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling, guardian or other significant person. Its weekend camps give children a safe, fun environment to connect with other kids who understand what they’re going through while building healthy coping skills. Campers participate in traditional camp activities alongside one-on-one volunteer mentors and take part in age-based Healing Circles led by mental health professionals. Since its founding in 1998, Comfort Zone Camp has served more than 27,000 grieving children, with programs provided at no cost to families.
During the visit, Sir Purr handed out Mt. Olive Pickles and Pickle Juicers to campers and staff, along with Mt. Olive hats for campers to take home. He also signed autographs and hit the field to toss around the football and play with campers.
Meanwhile, the TopCats spent time getting creative with campers, making friendship bracelets together and creating another special keepsake from the weekend.
Comfort Zone Camp relies on the generosity of donors and volunteers to continue providing its programs free of charge to grieving children and families. Supporters can make a one-time or monthly donation, sponsor a camp, donate supplies, start a fundraiser or volunteer in a variety of roles both at camp and behind the scenes.
