Product Description

Originally from Europe, specifically Italy and Greece, pepperoncini are in the same family as the jalapeno and poblano peppers but is not nearly as spicy. The pepperoncini ranks between 100 and 500 on the Scoville scale. Often confused for the less spicy banana pepper, pepperoncini have a mouth-watering heat underlying a savory flavor. They can be eaten raw or pickled, most people are familiar with pickled pepperoncini.

In Italian, the pepperoncini are referred to by a number of name variations including: friggitello, peperoncini (one p), peperone. In English is also called the golden Greek, the Tuscan pepper, and sweet Italian pepper, The pepperoncini are harvested before it has matured when it is between two to three inches in length. If left to fully mature on the vine, the pepperoncini become red, instead of the yellow-green color its best known for by pepper enthusiasts. A major component of Calabrian cuisine, this region in Italy hosts an annual festival to celebrate the pepperoncini.

Its unique and tangy flavor makes the pepperoncini a perfect addition to salads, sandwiches, pizzas, and antipasto platters. For those culinarily curious individuals, replace pepperoncini in your favorite jalapeno poppers recipe. You can also chop pepperoncini and include it in a pot of tomato sauce for pasta. Pepperoncini also add a wonderful taste to a beef roast prepared in a slow cooker. The options are endless! Also, try our sliced pepperoncini.

I could eat the whole jar in one sitting.. That wouldn’t be healthy but who cares… Can I buy a 50 gallon jug of these peppers? Lol

  2. Beth T

I’m right there with ya matt, these are great in salads, with pizza, and best by themselves. I have eaten a few whole jars in one sitting before deeelish!!! I love the hot banana peppers too just as much

  3. Michael Haynes

Love these with almost anything i eat was also happy to hear eating at least four a day has been shown to reduce the risk of cancer of the prostate in men

  4. Gregory Humphrey

These peppers are crunchy and delicious. We eat them on salads, with soup, and with sandwiches. I used to buy them in larger jars but can now only find them in 12 and 32 ounce sizes. I’ve tried other brands but none last as good as Mt. Olive’s.

  5. Craig D

These are the best I’ve ever had. They are always crisp and firm, very rarely squashed or mushy, like some brands I’ve had. The size of them is usually very good also, no little bitty ones. I eat three of them a day before dinner. Don’t know if they help with my cholesterol or not but figure it can’t hurt.!!!

  6. John Douglas

Matt you are right! I got my introduction with a very large jar ( 80 Oz. I think ) and found them to be the best I had ever had. The jar only lasted about 4 Months. Found this web site looking for a store that handled the big jars, but guess I’ll have to settle with the 32 Oz. Probably have to buy at least two jars each week!!!!

  7. Mack

Truly one of the best snacks I eat. I usually pair it with some crackers and cheese, and it is heavenly.

  8. Andrew

Wanna know how to make them myself lol

    • Lynn.Williams

Well, we make the juice in the jar in batches of 400 gallons, so our recipe wouldn’t work very well in your kitchen. 🙂

  9. Cory Tucker

    I highly enjoy

  10. William

I love pepperoncini and decided to try Mt. Olive brand. I found a giant jar at the market and took it home. I’m used to a great imported brand, but I grew up on Mount Olive stuff and figured it had to be great too. Wrong! When I opened and tried one, it was waxy and the outer skin was very tough. I was shocked because I never ever got a bad product from my favorite NC pickle company. I contacted the company and they sent me a letter of apology, along with two coupons. I told them I didn’t want my money back nor did I want coupons, I just wanted them to figure out why one product was tough. I tried a new two jars and they were amazing. Great customer service, great products. I have no idea what happened to the first jar. Perhaps the market stored it improperly . All I know is that everything M.O makes is 5 stars. Should you ever get anything less than par, I’ll bet it’s the vendor, not Mount Olive. Don’t ever switch brands

  13. Wade Phelps

Love them, curious to know if your pepperoncinis are just pickled or fermented first ?

    • Lynn.Williams

Wade, our pepperoncini peppers are pickled, but not fermented. Thanks!

  14. Karen

These are the best… consistently mild to medium spicy, delish
Is there a gallon jug available? I eat them right out of the jar, five at a time. When I crave a sweet I eat these instead, guiltless

  15. Catherine

World’s greatest peppers. They make a delicious snack and are incredible as an ingredient in pasta salad! I buy at least one jar a week.

      Thanks, Catherine!

Just purchased a Jar today from Safeway. I opened the jar, tasted one, and spit everything out! After some investigating I found the entire inside rim, of the lid, was covered in a black mold.

  21. Dyllan Shaw

I wish I could by just the brine in 1 gallon jars. I drink all the brine before I even eat the peppers, but the peppers go quick also.

  22. Linda Hardesty

I crave these peppers. I wish I could find a bigger jar. I LOVE drinking the juice. It’s making my mouth water right now thinking about it.

  23. jim

I had never heard of pepperoncini until I found this while grocery shopping. I bought it, tried it on a ham sandwich, and now I have to have it on every sandwich. I also put it on triscuits and eat it for a quick evening snack. Pretty good, but which there was a sweet variety.
